Here's a photo of me jumping into a lagoon with a water fall behind me. It was a steep 4 mile hike to see this waterfall. The water was so cold that it knocked the breath out of me. But well worth it.

We had an excellent vacation before attending Belle Cher, an Arts and Crafts festival held in Asheville, NC. The show was amazing. I meet some really awesome people, and was submersed in Hippie culture. I've taken some exciting photos....

Of course all the imagery and textures are drawn by myself with a couple of different etching processes. On is a scratched surface method and the other is an acid etched technique. Basically I lift the layer of metal off of the dichroic glass. I have made over 200 of these little paintings in glass. Each has a different arrangement of small glass pieces glued together. They then get covered with a layer of clear gl

ass and fired in a kiln at 1500 degrees. It's so easy to see where the inspiration for these beauties manifested. MY WEDDING DRESS.... Yes I have picked it out... and it's great...just let me know what you think!

______SPOLIER ALERT____

Here's Me in "the Dress"

It's been A While

I know, I haven't been blogging. Next I load them onto fire thin paper. Switch the kiln on and let them melt down. Then i clean them, bead them with glass beads and tie on a cheese spreader. They sell for $20.00 and can be used as a cream cheese spread dish, candle tray, spoon rest, or wall decor. It's the most awesome gift purchase ever! The bottles come in various colors but my most popular is cobalt blue bottles. I always feel good about creating art out of recylable products!

Christmas Made in The South 2007

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_jbHKb8C0vsU/Rxjwyxf2s_I/AAAAAAAAABM/-YpHZDeimio/s320/PA142370.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5123109331205010418" />
So this 2007 Christmas Made in the South Augusta, GA came alittle early this year. None the Less, it was a great show with a few really talented people and wonderful artists. I had a slew of new items for sale, including various sizes of glass masks and large glass faces. It was exciting to see how much everyone enjoyed my work. I had no idea that things would be appreciated as much as they were by some. People always suprise me. I am looking forward to Magnolia Market Days Hosted by the Junior League of Dekalb. It will be held 9:00-6:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday the 2 and 3 of November. I have to admit taking it all in at first is a bit overwhemling, but I learn so much more eveyday.
Preparing for Christmas keeps me busy in my "spare" time. The kilns stay running pretty much every moment I can. This penant is made with my newest favorite color, pumpkin orange. Since it is getting time for fall, I thought this would be fitting. I will be showing in Savannah again this weekend, First Saturday on Riverstreet, hosted by the Savannah Waterfront Association. Where you can find a few great art places, such as The Averitt Arts Center, Lori Grice Photography, Gallery 33 West, and of Course the Georgia Southern university Art Department, which I am also an Alumni of. I graduated in 2005 with a BFA in printmaking. My mentor Eun Sook Lee, was an incredibly encouraging professor. Although I earned a degree in printmaking I am a self taught glass artist.
I began with a blow torch and a few rods of soft glass making beads and small wearable art. Soon, I advanced to a "real" torch, or what they call a major minor torch. Redmax is the brand I started with, which allows you to use both soft and hard glass. I then moved on to Fused Glass Art, which I picked up some knowlede of from my boss at Free Spirit Pottery where I work. It was only natural to add this type of glass to my list of experience. I currently use and love Specturm's System 96 Fusible Glass.
