Bulding Blocks

For thoose of you that don't know me, Ameigh, I am from the small town of Statesboro, GA. Where you can find a few great art places, such as The Averitt Arts Center, Lori Grice Photography, Gallery 33 West, and of Course the Georgia Southern university Art Department, which I am also an Alumni of. I graduated in 2005 with a BFA in printmaking. My mentor Eun Sook Lee, was an incredibly encouraging professor. Although I earned a degree in printmaking I am a self taught glass artist.
I began with a blow torch and a few rods of soft glass making beads and small wearable art. Soon, I advanced to a "real" torch, or what they call a major minor torch. Redmax is the brand I started with, which allows you to use both soft and hard glass. I then moved on to Fused Glass Art, which I picked up some knowlede of from my boss at Free Spirit Pottery where I work. It was only natural to add this type of glass to my list of experience. I currently use and love Specturm's System 96 Fusible Glass. As well as Effetre soft glass, and Borsilicate (Hard glass).
Today, obviously I created my blog for you all to read and enjoy! I will be posting pictures of new items not avaliable online and how they are created. I will also be giving tid bits of advice and demonstrations for those addicted to glass. Posts can be expected of recent events and goings on in the 'boro.
